I charge competitive rates that depend on the duration and complexity of
search and the format of the final product. My base rate is $50.00 per hour and I offer discounts for projects that require half days, full days or longer periods of work. If all of the work can be done within an eight-hour period (including editing and adjustment of images), I charge a "normal day" rate of $300.00. For a twelve-hour day or “long day”, I charge $450.00. A "long day" often includes eight hours of copying documents at a records repository plus four more hours at home (editing and adjusting, converting format, text-recognizing and posting the images - usually as PDFs). I do not charge for the time it takes to upload digitized records to a website. Rush orders may be more expensive. I can process a maximum of approximately 450 stapled pages per day if scanning or photographing documents of the same size. If the records are unstapled pages, much more can be processed in a day. But most of the records in the repositories where I work are stapled. All copying media, such as photocopies, flash or other hard drives, CDs and DVDs are paid for by the client. The preferred method of payment is PayPal or DWOLLA, but accept bank transfers if necessary. Please note that I charge an additional 10% per month for late payments.
